Yes, the title of this piece is a takeoff on the overworked paraphrased quote from Karl Marx, who said, "religion is the opiate of the masses (opium)." Religion is under attack in America but if statistics are worth something it can be seen that cocaine at the height of her popularity and in the full question, whereas religion or more precisely, Christianity, is taking a beating.
With fighting drug cartels on the borders of our nation with military-grade weapons, gangster tactics and disregard for the laws of each nation, it would seem that cocaine is the opiate of the masses in this nation.
For those with no interest in cocaine there is still one more opiate that is saturating the hearts and minds of most Americans. Concerns about the economy is second to none. The only exceptions are those who are in a cocaine-induced trance probably so they don't have to think about our crumbling economy, unemployment and the stock market collapses.
The meaning of Marx understood the difficult sentence is probably, but I wouldn't take anything for granted in a world like ours. But I will take a moment to describe this world, or at least our small part of the, with only a few highlights of current events that once again sound all too much like something out of the "Ripley's Believe it or Not."
Sponsored event at the local mosque in Tulsa, Oklahoma police captain Paul fields was not rebuked for refusing Sunday to attend school at the local Christian Church but have docked his salary and his chance of promotion revoked for not attending a islamically. Essentially he was penalized for not taking a look at a religion that he has nothing to do with. Yes, the Oklahoma I refer to the one where, "the wind comes sweepin' down the plain" right here in the United States.
Congress is hearing this week about a u.s. based airline who is considering sharia and not allow Jews, Bibles, Christian literature, crosses or religious medals on board an aircraft bound for Saudi Arabia. While America are trying to keep our darnedest of dangerous substances from the Saudi flights, having decided that the real danger, a Gospel fiber bundle or a little black New Testament or the book of Psalms.
An honor student in Fort Worth, Texas was sent to the principal's Office, suspended from school and punished because he was overheard telling his classmate that he thought homosexuality was wrong. The ninth grade class often found the teacher education of the German subject of gay sexuality that seems strangely enough, but the suspension of the young man for his beliefs is such a blatant attack against Bible based his first amendment rights that it's hard to believe that this has happened in the same State in which the Governor a large stadium used to have a prayer meeting petition God's Help for the future of the nation. They may have to suspend the Governor for a few days.
These three examples of the pages of contemporary journals of goofus americanus ripped are just a microcosmic cross-section of what happens when Americans are distracted by what they see as summarily, of course, that only the a topic worthy of a 24/7 non-stop control. I picked up this week and the remote control several times during the day that I gave it to my wife for her to put on each exhaust national news of her choice to see if they could find any network that was not the discussion of the economy. They could not do, and neither can you.
The economy takes center stage in everyone's thinking. This Is a good thing, or is it a national obsession that our derived loves seeing what is going on elsewhere, such as our airlines, our schools and our police services? It's about the economy the opiate of the classes? Perhaps that Is exactly what the current Government had in mind when it created another famous quote?
Of the Obama administration "change we can believe in" has never Let a good crisis are overthrown by "go to waste" in a very real sense. While we want to underpin our portfolios with purchases of precious metals and have good advice on the markets to plan for our own fiscal future is a pandemic of immorality, desire and a loss of our rights and freedoms take place right under our nose. This is a pandemic which have yet to be properly diagnosed symptoms due to our distraction, which some say, is approaching the level of a national panic.
The learned Apostle Paul admonished a group of believers in the Church of Corinth by remind them that the weapons to beat a moral decline not carnal, (of the flesh), but they are spiritual. (2cor. 10: 4) Our strength as a nation still rest in our relationship with our God. The economy is not our God but is subject to him.
When I meet people from other religions and put off because I thought they were actually worshipping the same God as I would not think where all I I. But if I defer to them because they are after all flesh and blood like me and worthy of my basic love and respect than I can live with myself. Have given so much of a disclaimer if I'm just to do let me finally.
America's God and its relationship to that God, the God of Christianity has always been predominantly. I'm not distracted by the sharia, a bad economy or the gay agenda I am driven by the spirit of God that we need to return to the God of our fathers; or perish.
Now listen, who say, "we go today or tomorrow you will spend a year there, to this or that city, and for the business and make money." Why, you don't even know what will happen tomorrow. What is your life? You are a mist that appears for a while and then disappears. (James 4: 13, 14 NIV)
